PRESS RELEASE: Adult Learning Center Cancels Classes Due to COVID-19

This post was updated on March 19, 2020.

As a result of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), we will be cancelling all on-site classes through April 3rd. Given the aggressive nature of this virus, the age and health of some of our students and teachers, and the lack of affordable healthcare for our uninsured population, we feel this is the most appropriate measure we can take.

To our students, please expect to hear from your teachers soon. They will be calling you and assigning independent work during this time that will count towards your hourly goal. Registration for our Spring “mini-mester” is also postponed. Students planning to register then will receive communication soon.

Future Updates About Classes and Cancellations

Teachers and volunteers will receive updates from the ALC staff via email.

Students will receive updates from teachers via phone. You can also check the Strong City Baltimore website and the Adult Learning Center Facebook page.

We are a tight-knit community at the ALC and we are only doing this out of concern for everyone’s health. Visit the Center for Disease Control and Prevention website to learn more about COVID-19.
