Get in on the Govanstowne Treasure Hunt!

September 16, 2011

Join your neighbors for the First Annual Govanstowne Treasure Hunt & Fall Festival, now through September 25, 1pm-4pm at Belvedere Square.

The event is being led by the Govanstowne Business Association (GBA), which is a business organization that promotes, supports, and organizes events and activities on behalf of the business community on York Road. “Our goal is to encourage business development on the corridor and to encourage positive business and community relations” says GBA President, Maria Johnson.

Participating businesses on the corridor will distribute Treasure Hunt coins through September 25 (no purchase necessary). The more coins you collect, the higher your chances of winning one of many donated raffle prizes, including a grand prize iPad. The Festival also includes live bands from The Music Workshop. The final drawing will be held on September 25 at 3pm and you must be present to win.

“We hope that the Treasure Hunt and Fall Festival, together with other great things that are happening on York Road, such as the Farmer’s Market, the upcoming rehabilitation of the Senator Theatre, and the improvements to York Road from Glenwood to 43rd Street, which are also coming soon, will help increase pride in the local business district and lead to more investment throughout the corridor,” says Kristen Mitchell who is a member of GBA and is spearheading the event. “If we celebrate and appreciate the small victories like new customers, fresh paint, successful events, a business opening or expansion,” says Mitchell, “we can set the stage for more great things to come on York Road!”
