Garland Thomas to become new Director of Adult Learning Center

January 30, 2013

GHCC is thrilled to bring on a new Director of our Adult Learning Center, Garland Thomas. He starts his new duties Monday, February 4.

Garland photo 3Garland comes to us from Central Baltimore Partnership (CBP), where for five years he has contributed to the significant development that is happening in Greenmount West, Charles North, Old Goucher, Barclay and the commercial area of the Station North Arts and Entertainment District. His work included building partnerships and relationships with institutions, businesses, and non-profit entities in the area, helping them work toward the sustainable revitalization of the area. For the past two years he has served as Deputy Director of CBP.

Prior to CBP, Garland was a program manager with Progressive Life Center, and he’s worked extensively in the public and non-profit sectors. He has a Master’s in Education, specializing in rehabilitative counseling, and he’s looking forward to putting his direct service experience back to work at GHCC.

While under CBP, Garland also served as liaison for both CBP and GHCC to the workforce component of the Baltimore Integration Partnership and helped expand our Workforce Program, which is housed at our Adult Learning Center, to include more robust direct family services. He is looking forward to putting his direct service experience back to work at GHCC.

“I’m very excited for this brand new challenge to join a great program and to help that program continue the fantastic work that it’s already doing!” he says.

Garland, we can’t wait for you to start!
