ALC Hosts Successful Virtual 2020 Achievement Night

June 22, 2020

A typical summer at Strong City’s Adult Learning Center would start off with the annual Achievement Night (ALC). Learners, some for the first time, would receive certificates and GEDs with all the pomp and circumstance deserved by such dedicated students. With the risk of contracting COVID-19 still very present, this year learners, teachers, and guests gathered virtually on June 11th to celebrate.

The evening was hosted by Jesse Schneiderman, Executive Director of the ALC, with Monessa Keemer as the night’s student speaker. This year’s keynote speaker was Regina T. Boyce, member of the Maryland House of Delegates and former executive director of the ALC.

The celebration was paired with a virtual silent auction, which raised $1,387 as a gift from the class of 2020 to the ALC. Watch a recording of Virtual Achievement Night below.
